Dominic Ursillo
He was born in Marzano Appio in the province of Caserta. At a very young age he participates by invitation in a series of group exhibitions and competitions especially in Naples at the Galleria dei Mille and the Flegreo Cultural Artistic Center. Where he was awarded the Salvator Rosa National Prize and an honorable mention at the IV Quadrennial of Naples. In 1973 he moved to Milan, where he made his debut with a solo exhibition at the Galleria il Cavalletto. Since then he has actively participated in the most important national and international art events and exhibitions, exhibiting together with the most prestigious names in contemporary painting in group and personal exhibitions in various cities of Italy and abroad. His works appear in public collections in Italy, in important collections such as the Cultural Heritage of the Lombardy Region and abroad. In 2012 he was among the winners of the designer crucifixes competition for the creation of a crucifix to be exhibited in the institutional spaces of the Lombardy Region. In 2015 he was invited by the curator of the Costa Rica pavilion to the Venice Biennale and in 2016 he took part in the Pro Biennale exhibition, presented by Prof. Vittorio Sgarbi. Numerous awards among the most significant are mentioned, the Ambrogino d'Oro from the Municipality of Milan, the Prime Minister's Award, the Hans Christian Andersen International Award for the bicentenary of the writer's death, conferred on him by the International Caluma Art Center of Copenhagen, Gold Medal International Prize of Germany, International Peace Prize in the GOMPA World, in 2017 he was awarded the Premio Internationale Prize Novecento dedicated to Guttuso, is included in the most important contemporary art catalogs and volumes.
