Raffin reinterprets scenes he has memorized from his everyday life or his numerous travels in acrylic and oil paint using a knife or a brush on a variety of materials (paper, wood, canvas, etc.). The artist allows his emotions to direct his brush toward the essential as he runs from the technical rigor. His intention is to convey his feeling rather than to accurately represent the subject, thus he purifies it to the point where it is no longer recognizable.
