Alexander Heretakis was born in Athens in 1959. He studied at the schools of Fine Arts in Athens, Paris and Berlin.
His inspiration has been the endless metamorphosis of the daily life and chooses to make it art piece with expressionistic dimensions where the magica impressionism is enhanced with a metaphysical mood.
During all the periods of his work, Alexander Heretakis has some common elements in his forming glossary, like his preference in vertical and horizontal themes, wide and generous painting masses, either figures or group of objects, the large uniform colored surfaces, the strong contradictions of design and color, the loght, that always comes from the backdrop of the painting.
Although these common elements wich rules his work and express his personal style, Alexander Heretakis makes the choice to let oneself to impulse and instinct, to modulate the rules and to select the techniques for each art work during his painting approach.
Those experiments allow him to discover the clearest expression of the absurd. From this position he watches the events that compose daily life's absurd, together with the audience.
His work has been internationally acknowledged.
His works are accommodated in public, corpotate, bank and private collections in Hellas and abroad. His lives and works in Athens.
