On this new polyptych having for subject one of the installation modules of LeND, we can almost recognize a headboard ... What is obvious is above all the confluence of pictorial events: collage of images first, then drips and repentance in painting, also the fact that the different paintings that make up this set of canvases on stretcher, go beyond the simple frame; a wooden frame runs along the frames, following their shape (apart from a small corner on the upper part of the painting, obviously the artist Baptiste Vanweydeveldt's desire to play with this possible "escape") ... The main subject is put set back to assert a multitude of gestures brushed "wildly" after a long time of reflection, it is true that the balance of the announced forms are precarious and hold the vernacular, the different planes overlap, collide like a zapping on the history of Art and neo-avant-garde painting gestures ... We can recognize an invoice close to "Bad painting", or at least the heritage of Robert Rauchenberg without falling into the style copy. Here the artist takes his independence with respect to the painting and hangs there these last attempts of collage by evoking the famous paintings and some patterns gleaned in a collection of booklet "Muses" ... Third polyptych of the series on L eND which is in itself a slow meditation on the motif playing mediums and experiments ... Baptiste Vanweydeveldt, February 2020.

Visual artist, born in 1978 in Lille. currently lives in Caen, France.

I situate my work between a laboratory of forms (search for volume through drawing, painting and sculpture) and a tendency towards DIY (recycling of found objects and materials, transformation of their uses, reinvestment of their signs and questions about their subjects). I approach several mediums at the same time in order to extend the creative process to other fields of research: anthropology, natural sciences, etc.
The pooling of the two works like a small world with its own energy flows.
Usually I start with a series of sketches, notes and diagrams. I also rely on my reading, on a lot of images, which I feed on with bulimia. I exhaust their meanings until there is emulsion. This may explain the dreamy but also saturated appearance of my installations. Without cultivating a pessimistic view of the world, despite everything, I question our future through figures that are close to us, towards an imaginary that I wish to be collective; it is an opening onto a composition with multiple perspectives.
My recurring themes are environmental around the domus (house, private sphere/public sphere, hospital, etc.) and the extended living, according to a spatial questioning centered on the flow of energies, on magnetism and a set of enigmatic correlations.
