Aya So, a contemporary French artist, draws inspiration from a myriad of artistic influences including street art, raw art, and free figuration. Her journey into the realm of painting was sparked by a profound encounter with the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose artistic legacy left an indelible mark on her creative path. A dedicated self-taught artist, So has experimented with various disciplines and genres, drawing upon the visual vocabulary of artists from the Figuration Libre movement, Art Brut, street art, and beyond. However, it was Basquiat's oeuvre that truly ignited her passion for painting.

Constantly exploring new avenues of artistic expression, So finds her true voice in the act of creation itself, reveling in the tactile experience of manipulating different materials to weave narratives and evoke emotions. Through her art, she seeks to capture fragments of life, brushing the essence of humanity onto her canvases. Each work reflects her unique perspective, shaped by encounters with fleeting entities and moments frozen in her memory, colored by her unconventional view of the world.
