Origins and History
During the Edo period in Japan, Tree Printmaking was known as Ukiyo-e, meaning "pictures of the floating world". Vincent van Gogh and Gustav Klimt were two artists who popularized Tree Printmaking in the Western world in the 19th century. In the 20th century, artists like Helen Frankenthaler and Jasper Johns experimented with new techniques, such as monoprinting, to create unique Tree prints.
