Flower's for Algernon
"Until he was thirty-two, Charlie Gordon --gentle, amiable, oddly engaging-- had lived in a kind of mental twilight. He knew knowledge was important and had learned to read and write after a fashion, but he also knew he wasn't nearly as bright as most of the people around him. There was even a white mouse named Algernon who outpaced Charlie in some ways. But a remarkable operation had been performed on Algernon, and now he was a genius among mice. Suppose Charlie underwent a similar operation..."

“Conceptual Punk Rock Pop Art: Today’s Rebellion is Tomorrow’s Freedom”
Punk rock is one of the most beautiful pop cultures that display’s an everlasting battle between them and society. The nihilism in 1977 has left a stereotypical mark that is thought of today’s punks. My main goal is to craft my art to express the intelligence, kindness, social aspects/philosophies and the oppression of punks in contemporary society.
In order to display my idea, I have to use photographs to choreograph the idea in the painting, or drawing. By doing this I have to take random shots of friends or people I make as friends before taking the shot. When the photos are developed I rule out photos that are good for photography and those good for painting. I build and stretch my own canvases because I am strong believer in the punk ethic in “doing it yourself”. Ninety-five percent of my paintings are done on canvases I built, and the others were bought only because it would have cost more to build the smaller frame opposed to buying it pre-built. After gessoing the canvas, I then either grid the photograph as well as the canvas to guide drawing on it or I use a projector to put the image onto the canvas before drawing it . I then start to paint under florescent lights because by doing this I tend to guess more about how the colors look and they tend to have more of a swirl, brighter, bolder look then when I try to paint in natural sunlight. I use line work to give the figures more of a hard edge and it gives them a cartoon look that muses like David Glass, Roy Lichtenstein, and Raymond Pettibon use in their work. I add random line work in clothing in back round to create movement and energy in the piece that represents the energy in punk music. After painting the piece, I then decide to put text on or not. If I put text on, it’s usually to push the idea that isn’t as easily seen as in other pieces. After deciding on using text, I have to choose to either free hand it, stencil it with plastic or projection or collage it. I paint the sides of the painting black to keep the viewer looking at the painting and signature the frames side with “Fish” or “xFISHx” and date the finishing date.
Each painting has a reason and a purpose that is trying to make people understand punk culture. The whole purpose of making paintings to understand punk culture is because the same ideas are displayed in punk music but no one else is listening. I want people who respect, and hate punk culture to look at these paintings, and drawings so that they can gain an understanding for what the works of art are trying to say. I want people to look at the history and look at today and understand that what happened then isn’t solidly archetypal today. The fashion has stayed the same but the ethics and philosophies have changed because they weren’t getting anywhere with nihilism. Hopefully if people start to listen to what punk culture has to say instead of screaming about their fashion and life style then maybe there will be less tension, distortion, and segregation between the two communities.

Early in his high school years, R. Gibbs became, in his own words, "a student of Eccentricities and Blunder." This sempiternal pursuit seemed to have lead him to gaining appellatives as Public Animal, Pumpcrop, Alacron and The Grandnylon of The Supple Leg. He became attracted to the more scopious designs of such intellectualizations as Chaos in Magic, sexual/drug experimentations, The Karma Sutra, mind expansions (with and without the aid of drugs) and Occultic understandings, though he never recognized any 'religion' as THE religion. Christianity, Alchemy, Astrology, Avidyana, Essoteric Teachings of Gurdjieff, Crowley, Nietzsche, Plato, Schopenhauer, Spinoza and many more systems such as Chaos, Dadaism, Illuminati, Mysticism, Satanism, Tantra, Thelema, Majik and others filled his days and influenced his Art/Fetish.
His writen art/fetish: 'The Pumpcrop Paradox' (novella), 'The Pumpcrop, Poems and Paper Piers', 'The Janus Savior' (novel) and 'The Prime Pickens From The Pumpcrop' (short stories) and his Artistic Invasion entitled 'The Strange and Unusual Dadaian' (drawings). One of his more 'indepth' works has been his MASTER WORKS. These were several books placed together in what has been called 'The Way Of The Supreme Pizza Of The Perfect Sole' or the 'Pumpcroptic Mystycals'.

I'm an Artist...
No one understands and this is one of those essential reasons I find suicide to be most appealing. I am constantly at odds with life, being full of regrets and hardly at peace in my mind. I revere those who have found the strength to take up weapons against themselves in order to disencumber their souls from this comedy.
And so it was that I begun with such engagement, an artist with hopes and dreams. I was the unsophisticated adventuror heading into the unknown that was, in my own mind, scoped, planned to the slightest detail and wholey desired.

I'm far too complicated and messy a subject to explain in a couple of neat and witty words, so i'll spare you the pain. I could try... but trust me it's no use; it's a waste of clean space. So much awkward fumbling of words without any real value. I've recently discovered it's easier to understand yourself when you stop trying to term, define, and classify.
