Mario Signorini nasceu em 7 de maio de 1943 no Rio de Janeiro. É médico, formado pela Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro em 1973, com especialização em psiquiatria.
A relação médico-paciente gerou o interesse pela psicanálise e, em 1977, entrou para a Sociedade Psicanalítica do Rio de Janeiro - SPRJ. Trabalhou em diversos hospitais psiquiátricos e em seu consultório particular. Foi bibliotecário de instituições de saúde, chefe de residentes e docente da Sociedade Psicanalítica, tendo participado de grupos de estudos e escrito trabalhos sobre psicanálise e literatura.
A medida em que se aprofundava em sua análise pessoal, sua perspectiva de vida mudava. O seu autoconhecimento fez com que ampliasse a sua necessidade de expressão artística. O exercício da interpretação da realidade, instrumento de sua profissão psicanalítica, adquiriu uma nova dimensão através do seu interesse artístico.
Os primeiros trabalhos feitos, em 1986, foram em lápis de cor, seguindo-se as técnicas do pastel, do nanquim e da aquarela. De uma forma autodidata, estendeu nas suas obras o uso da pintura a acrílico e a óleo. Também experimentou a imagem digital, utilizando programas como Paintbrush e Fauve Matisse.
Até hoje os seus trabalhos são inéditos.
