Coco Vewenda

Coco Vewenda, a contemporary artist from the Democratic Republic of Congo, lives and works in Belgium. After completing six years of high school, Vewenda earned a diploma in sculpture from the Institute of Fine Arts in Kinshasa. Presently, he is engaged in evening studies of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in the city of Brussels.

Central to Vewenda's artistic expression are the themes of modernity, tradition, and transparency. Positioned between tradition and modernity, he strive to create contemporary art while drawing inspiration from primitive African art. Rooted in a desire to connect with his culture, origins, and sources, Vewenda navigates towards a contemporary worldview.
