Elle représente des mains d'ostréiculteurs ouvrant des huîtres.
Elles ont été réalisé à partir du poème de Francis Ponge « l’huître ».
Comme le faisait Ponge dans son poème, c'est l'objet (huître) qui est le centre de l’œuvre. La seule présence humaine est celle de la main. L’huître et la main se font écho par leur rusticité.
Pour comprendre la vérité, découvrir l'intime, nous devons ouvrir la coquille. On passe alors du monde minéral inanimé au monde animal vivant.
La main contient l’huître qui contient le sens.
La main est une sorte de portrait de l'homme qui reste hors champ. Elle est la métaphore de l'humain. Elle contient son caractère : celui de l'homme qui ne se livre pas, taciturne, « fermé comme une huître », qui abrite un secret, un nouveau monde : avec sa mer, son firmament et peut être un trésor.
