I have long had a mania for painting things, landscapes and people. However, I did not paint anything notable before I was sixty. At seventy, I think I will have made good progress. Therefore, at eighty, I hope that I will have improved sufficiently and at ninety that I will have perceived the very essence of things. So that at a hundred years old I will have reached a form of perfection and at a hundred and ten years old, even a point or a line will be alive.
