One-of-a-kind works of art are also known as “OOAK” artworks. This means that every work of art is unique and there will never be another identical one.

Arie van 't Riet's photography is, as it were, a fusion of his scientific background as an engineer and physicist and his passion and love for flora and fauna. Above all, he captures the essence and core of nature. This process combines a sense of beauty with technical knowledge and insight. Van 't Riet creates dioramas with animals and flowers, “bioramas” as he calls them. He records this with X-ray film. He has a special permit for working with X-ray equipment in his studio. Van 't Riet invariably works with a single recording. The X-ray film is developed in the dark room. This is then scanned and digitally processed. And can be called unique. The end result produces strong images, in which the outside and inside of the plant “reveal themselves”. In 2013, in the Hortus Botanicus, in Amsterdam, the work of Van 't Riet was shown for the first time at a group exhibition of the “Tropisten” collective. This was followed by exhibitions and publications of his work all over the world. Provenance: purchased for the Tropists exhibition in the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, 2013. The work was made in an edition of 10 pieces, accompanied by a certificate from the artist.
