Elise Stanley was born in Sweden where she acquired her trademark dark-brown hair, grew up in Leicester, England and then spent 23 years in the Washington DC area before following her heart to Cabbagetown, Toronto, Canada.
In her spare time Elise dances international ballroom, teaches at the University of Toronto, and does cellular brain research.

The Language of Cats - 16-9-06 to 15-10-06 upmarket.cafe, cabbagetown
This exhibit is a whimsical look at cat language based on gross anthropomorphism – but what in our relation to cats is not? Is this symbolic of human interaction with the animal world – or copyplate for Hallmark cards? You choose: after all, seriousness in art is determined by the viewer not the artist.

You have captured the passion, sensuality and energy of dance in a split second. On the one hand I become the dancer and on the other I am mesmerised by the dancer.
