This piece is created on silk using the batik technique, skilfully combining both cold and hot batik methods. The artwork depicts a composition where ripe autumn fruits, such as apples, are seamlessly integrated with surrounding leaves and branches. The colour palette of the piece includes warm autumn tones, transitioning from rich golden and orange shades to cooler, muted blue-grey and brown colours' distinctive feature of this work is that the image seems to extend beyond the frame, creating an effect as if the painting "continues" outside the canvas, visually expanding the space and adding depth to the entire composition. The frame element becomes an integral part of the artistic concept, organically merging both the frame and the continuation of the drawing. This creative approach makes the piece unique and draws attention to the details, evoking a sense of wholeness and harmony.
This unusual method of combining the painting with the frame creates an intriguing visual effect, turning the work into not just a decorative object but also a piece that interacts with the surrounding space, as if blurring the boundaries between the frame and the artwork
The painting is done on silk fabric, and it's stretched onto a frame, so the artwork seamlessly extends onto the frame itself. This unique feature adds depth and dimension to the piece, making it even more captivating.
Batik - hand-painted on fabric using reserving compounds. October 2, 2009 included in the UNESCO list of masterpieces of the oral and spiritual heritage of mankind. The fabric - silk, is painted with the appropriate fabric paint. To obtain clear boundaries at the junction of paints, a special fixer is used, called a reserve (a reserve composition, based on paraffin). The painting "batik" has long been known among the peoples of Indonesia, India, etc. In Europe - since the XX century.
Batik is the traditional costume of the royal and aristocratic families in Java for many centuries until now. The use of batik is still sustainable and is a mandatory traditional dress in the rules of the Javanese palaces to this day. Initially, the tradition of making batik was considered a tradition that could only be practiced in the palace and was designated as the clothes of the king, family, and their followers, thus becoming a symbol of Javanese feudalism.
Any batik is unique, because it is created by hand according to an original inimitable sketch, and has a high cost, because it takes a lot of time to create a pattern on fabric, expensive natural dyes etc.
My idea is to go beyond the traditional concepts of Batik painting, I do not limit content to just traditional flowers and patterns. In my works I use natural silk, crepe de chine, satin and silk dyes, as well as mixed techniques of Batik-cold and Batik using hot wax. You will see portrait, landscape, abstract, cubism, animalism, and 3D paintings. When using the Batik technique, you have no room to make a mistake, because it may not be possible to fix the error. It takes days, sometimes even weeks, to create one painting.

Elena is an internationally exhibited artist, with works showcased at renowned platforms such as Saatchi Art and Artmajeur. She has been a member of the Eurasian Art Union since 2021 and the Professional Artists of Russia since 2019. Her distinctive artistic approach lies in the fusion of opposites—both in material and technique. Using natural silk, a material historically associated with luxury and exclusivity, and the traditional batik method, Elena contrasts these symbols of wealth with themes of poverty, isolation, and grief. This juxtaposition introduces a layer of artistic irony, adding depth and complexity to her pieces.

Graduating from Salford University, Elena continued her artistic research and experimentation, while also teaching painting and life drawing. Her mastery of batik, both in its hot and cold techniques, extends beyond her own work, as she also gives lessons and masterclasses in this historic medium. Batik, once a privilege of the Javanese royal courts and now emblematic in luxury fashion (such as Hermes scarves), holds a deep cultural significance, which Elena recon textualizes in her modern, thought-provoking works.

Additionally, Elena holds certificates in art therapy and colour therapy, allowing her to use art not only for self-expression but also as a healing tool. Her unique perspective, blending architectural education with in-depth knowledge of visual arts, makes her works stand out. Elena's batik creations captivate both art experts and the general public

In 2021, she was awarded second and third place in the International Competition at the Russian Art Week, marking another significant achievement in her career. Elena’s practice is an exploration of the paradoxes in life, with a creative focus on the tension between wealth and need, grandeur and simplicity—an artistic dialogue that is more relevant than ever in today's world.
