Electra Varnava is a contemporary artist from Cyprus. She graduated from the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts at Thessaloniki’s Aristotle University, where she studied from 2006 to 2011. Electra has participated in various group exhibitions, including the 15th Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean-Symbiosis, and has received numerous awards in art competitions both at home and abroad.
Her journey in art began at the age of 10 when she started attending private art lessons in Limassol, encouraged by her mother. This support led to her participating in competitions, where she achieved numerous distinctions. One of the most significant early competitions was organized by the Youth Board of Cyprus in 2002, where she won a trip to Rome at just 14 years old. This win marked the beginning of her artistic career. She also won first place in the Agros Youth competition in Cyprus and continued to garner accolades, including distinctions in a European competition in 2004 and first place in Limassol’s “Epilogi” Cultural Movement Art competition.
In 2005, she secured third place in a Greek competition and the following year, third place in a Cyprus Anti-drug poster competition, and again first place in Limassol’s “Epilogi” Cultural Movement art competition. In October 2015, Electra participated in the "VERA World Fine Art Festival" in Lisbon, where she received an award in Drawing for "Diligence and Professionalism."
Her first participation in a group exhibition was in 2005 at the age of 17, with 50% of the proceeds going to charity. Even the Minister of Justice and Public Order attended and purchased one of her paintings.
During her university years, Electra took part in numerous group exhibitions, including the 15th Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean-Symbiosis. After graduating in 2011, she returned to Cyprus and established her own studio. She began exploring her painting style, with a growing fondness for realism influenced by her love for the harmony of nature and her design courses that emphasized correct proportions.
