Elbéger (artist name) was born in Fécamp in Seine-Maritime. After living in the Paris region for a long time, he now lives in Rouen. His desire to paint dates back to his earliest childhood. An attraction that he still doesn't explain. He already sees his future influences in both the Impressionists (Renoir, Monet) and the Abstractionists (Pollock, Kandinsky). He did not paint his first canvas until November 2010, the beginning of a production of around thirty works over the two years that followed. Self-taught, in August 2013 he presented his work to the public for the first time, which gave him a very warm welcome. In January 2014 he definitively ceased his professional activity to embark on this artistic adventure and devote all his time to his passion.
In his artistic approach, abstract art imposes itself on Elbéger as a source of total freedom appealing to all his senses. He strives to give strength and energy to his paintings by playing on nuances, contrasts, colors and materials. Do not impose anything on yourself, do not forbid yourself anything, let your emotions flow onto the canvas instinctively. For him, the work is sufficient in itself. From the first layers placed randomly to the balance of the composition, he lets himself be guided by his feelings. He invites each of us on a spiritual journey above all.
Later, Elbéger's encounter with the works of Zao Wou-Ki was a revelation. He better understood the importance of abstract writing to convey his feelings. Thus, Elbéger delivers his vision of a world filled with energy and light. The body becomes the soul, the structures of vibrations, the energies of colors... Everything is visible differently for everyone. Only the emotions, immutable, remain. His canvases are bruised, scarified, scratched. He writes their story, their experience. They fill with energy with each gesture imbued with a new emotion, letting them build over time.
