That she is obviously Asian is not an intended narrative factor. I frequently draw Asian people because I have had only amicable past experiences with them and they are about half of the world's population. This has also led me to study Asian cultures and history.
The title is an obvious reference to paintings by Marcel Duchamp in a Futurist style and that involves some personal history.
I was once suspended from school for submitting an extra-credit painting that included a small medallion in one corner that depicted nudity. I asked a number of questions like, "If I brought an art text book to school that had in it pictures of nude humans, would that break the rules?" And, "If I brought in a reproduction of Marcel Duchamp's, 'Nude Descending a Staircase,' would that break the rules?" When the administrator answered, "yes' to all of these it helped me to make a decision I was already heading towards. I had determined that public schools in the state of California, were more concerned with producing compliant, submissive, citizens than self-reliant ones with a useable knowledge base. I refused to be psychologically conditioned and morally and intellectually compromised, so I dropped out of school at 16. It cost me through my life, but it was the second best decision I ever made. This was in the mid-1960s and I hear it has gotten many times worse since then. It took me time to figure out who and why they were doing this. I finally figured out it was the American-style socialists that had infiltrated and dominated the public education system and does so today.
When you grow up seeing duplicity and corruption, you tend to see everything through a skeptic's eyes. That's why many of my drawings have a double-entendre that is critical of authoritarianism. Unfortunately, with the political/philosophical divide in America, at least half the time my jaundiced view is not paranoia, since that can only exist in the absence of something to really be afraid of.
In the early 20th Century, on of the main leaders of the Eugenics movement in the world was the United States of America, led by people like Elizabeth Stanton, Charles Davenport and Woodrow Wilson. Adolf Hitler studied American Eugenics and gave it credit as one of his inspirations for the national socialist version of it that we call "The Holocaust." After World War Two, the Lemarckian branch of Eugenics gained ascendancy. A movement more like those of Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung, but they presided over the deaths of many times Hitler's toll.
Today, the prospect of the American, "Democrats", the leading agency of this incremental revolution, taking over the economic and military power of the United States ought to scare the life out of every other country in the world. But the good news is, America is more likely to break up in civil war than let that happen.
Now look at this smug, nude descending a staircase again.
