I post comments on a political discussion site called Parler. I became politicized by the American public schools as a young teen when I realized that they were brainwashing American children and conditioning them against resistance to authority. It lit a fire under me that I have pursued the rest of my life. There is quite a movement in the US today to put an end to this, as many Americans are waking up to what they've tried to do, (and "they" is ambiguous. "They are the Progressive Movement and the Democratic Party, USA).
When Russia invaded the Ukraine, I posted that this could turn into a major mistake. I have followed Putin's reign and it has the same weakness of all authoritarian dictatorships. Freedom to speak your true opinions must be crushed lest you speak ill of the dictator or board of dictators ... those that serve the dictator are afraid to tell him the truth and always claim to be more ready and more productive than they really are. Putin is late in realizing that.
The Ukrainians, with the help of many other nations opposed to his expansionist war, have stopped two major Russian offensives. and stymying a third. At this point US Intelligence estimates that Russia has lost 25,000 of its troops, mostly young men that should have been able to live out their lives and accomplished something more than killing other ethnic Russians and Ukrainians to feed Putin's dream of empire.
Russia is already a great nation and one no one would seriously think of trying to conquer. A peace-loving, democratic Russia would quickly rise as a real, world leader, and not just a place other nations fear. No one who knows anything about World War II, (The Great Patriotic War), can, not be grateful for the tremendous sacrifices and victories of Russia against Hitler's 3rd Reich. But no one can respect Russia when it then follows Hitler's example with a list of Countries Putin wants to conquer.
Still, I am saddened by Russia's losses, just as I am saddened by Ukraine's much greater losses, very many of them civilians, deliberately targeted and outright executed.
May victory bless the Ukraine people. And may sanity return to the Russian leaders. And may peace come to both nations.
Putin says, "I don't understand! I'm bringing 25,000 of our soldiers home! Why don't they cheer me?"
The banner reads, "VICTORY DAY 2022"

Edwin Loftus is an American painter and draftsman born in 1951. His interest in art began at the age of 4 when he decided to draw something real rather than working from his imagination.

As a child he excelled at drawing and as a teenager he began to experiment with oil painting. In college, he took courses in art and art history and realized that true art had nothing to do with the quality of the drawing or painting, but that it had to have the ambition to push the boundaries and expand the visual experience.

He also studied philosophy, psychology and history and quickly realized that it was just another art establishment trying to defend its elitist industry and reward system. Their skills were almost non-existent, they knew nothing about psychology, perception or stimulus response, and they were extensions of the belief system that made communism, fascism and other forms of totalitarianism such destructive forces in the world. They literally believe that art shouldn't be available to ordinary human beings, but only to an elite "sophisticated" enough to understand it.

Edwin Loftus realized that the emperors of art had no clothes, but they were still the emperors. Gifted in art, he worked hard to acquire this skill. So he found other ways to make a living and sold a few artworks from time to time. For sixty years, many people enjoyed his works and some collected them.

Today, Edwin Loftus is retired. Even if he sold all his paintings for the price he asked, "artist" would be the lowest paid job he ever had... but that's the way it is.  It won't matter to him after he dies. He just hopes that some people will like what he does enough to enjoy it in the future.
