The Jews of Galicia had a serious intellectual influence in the philosophical and religious sphere (Martin Buber), literature (Joseph Roth and Masha Kaleko), the natural sciences, cinema (Billy Wilder), jurisprudence and in many other areas of culture and science. Despite the fact that Zionist ideas were quite widespread among the Jews of Galicia, most of them considered Galicia their real home.
