Glossy finish
Apart from its exceptional thickness, the fiber paper is composed of an alpha-cellulose base without acid and it is covered with barium sulphate, and a microporous layer absorption enhancing pigments during printing. Dovan Benitah est né en 1984 à Lyon. Diplômé en architecture intérieure, il vit et travaille à Paris.
Parallèlement, il se consacre à la peinture.
Le travail de Dovan Benitah consiste à allier peinture et collage. Il transpose des portraits au sein d’un univers urbain et joue subtilement avec le contraste des matériaux.
Aguerri à la technique du collage, Dovan utilise des affiches, qu'il modèle à son choix, comme base du décor pour y peindre un visage. Les multiples couches de papier, superposées les unes sur les autres accentuent les formes de ce visage, lui attribuent force et profondeur.
La forme humaine transmue le papier, et irradie par son mystère et sa personnalité.
Dovan mixe les couleurs avec éclat. Il choisit de peindre les visages en noir et blanc, représentation chromatique de l’authenticité, un thème important dans la réflexion de ce jeune artiste.
Il accentue le décalage entre une personnalité et le contexte au sein duquel elle se mue.
La démarche de Dovan est le résultat de recherches, d’observations mais aussi d’inspirations qui jalonnent son quotidien.
À la fois contemporaines et historiques, les peintures de Dovan Benitah sont pleines de sens. Jonglant entre le passé et le présent, il invente ce qui se cache. L'artiste conçoit sa toile comme un mur sur lequel jaillit toute une histoire, avec ses complexités propres.
Si Salvador Dalí a pu affirmer que "la nature aime se cacher", Dovan Benitah aime plutôt se dire que la nature se cache mais ressort tôt ou tard.
