Christopher Degenhardt
Born 28th December, 1948, England

Having passed in O’level art and craft Chris graduated in 1974 with the LSIAD (Licentiate Society of Industrial Artists Diploma) in Vocational Graphics.

His artistic interest began as a child when he sat outside for many hours at a time painting landscapes around Bury St Edmunds, his home town in Suffolk. At age 13 he won an award in a national art competition (The Island of Coal) sponsored by the British Coal Board.

Following his graduation from the Great Yarmouth College of Art and Design he worked in London, first as a visual artist with NCK (Norman Craig and Kummel) advertising and later as a freelance graphic artist.

Chris has now settled in the beautiful Tweed Valley where he has developed his unique Pointillist art style. In March 2000 he entered a painting in the Science-Art Festival in Murwillumbah. Chris is very interested in Science-Art (putting humanity back into science) both for its symbolism and its philosophy.

Amongst his most recent art achievements Chris received a “Highly Commended” in the 2002 Border Art Prize; First prize in the Royal Queensland Art Society Inc. “Gold Coast Masters” open art exhibition in 2003; and a “Highly Commended” prize in the Royal Queensland Art Society Inc. 2004 open art prize.

Since returning from an extraordinary spiritual journey in Egypt November 2004, under the spiritual guidance of Carmel Glenane, proprietor of Atlantis Rising, Chris has become engrossed with sacred Egyptian imagery in his artwork. A further, and more recent development, is his ability to paint in 3D, an effect that enthralls and mystifies all who looks through the 3D lenses, at his paintings.
