An American oil painter, Donovan’s provocative use of color evokes impressions of other worldly landscapes. Donavan uses visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. The award winning artist is often referred to as an intuitive painter, drawing both on abstraction and landscape imagery.  Heavily influenced by a close bond with her immigrant grandmother, she was enthralled and heartbroken by the Norwegian woman’s stories of a family and country she left behind.  The Scandinavian artist’s works entice you into a sense of place, remembered, imagined or sensed, that haunt and intrigue. Donovan graduated with a B.A from the University of MN, summa cum laude. She now resides in the rural community of Scandia, Minnesota.
