Alex V. Dolgikh is a contemporary Russian artist. He entered The Art College of N.S. Samokish in Simferopol, where he began his artistic journey. He later completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kiev before returning to his hometown in 1992. Back in his hometown, he became a painter-decorator at the Crimean Academic Russian Drama Theater named after M. Gorky. Dolgikh delved into a range of drawing and painting techniques, placing a special focus on capturing the human figure. His profound fascination with ancient history, mythology, legends, and fairy-tales is a recurring theme in his artworks.
Bolstered by a solid academic foundation and professional training in Art Materials and Technology, Dolgikh developed a unique method that allows him to seamlessly blend oil and acrylic paints within the same artwork. This approach, inspired by Franz Hals' practice of combining oil with watercolors, was further refined and experimented with by Dolgikh.
In 1996, he gained significant international recognition with his major debut at the Barcelona ArtExpo. Subsequently relocating to Prague, his artistic pieces found their way into exhibitions in cities such as Dublin, London, and Melbourne. Starting from 2005, Alexander's works have been consistently on display at the gallery of European modern art in Prague. Notably, Graham Fine Art proudly presents the exclusive representation of Alexander Dolgikh's artworks in the United Kingdom.
