I am an abstract painter in various styles and subjects who strive to find that diamond in the rough by design or through serendipity. Though I have a certificate in Art from Emily Carr University, I am mostly self taught. Life is too short not to try different things. I have played with printmaking, oil, ink, drawing, and acrylic painting. Until early 2020 I was immersed in pottery but COVID has redirected to other venues. The corona has given us the opportunity and permission like nothing ever had to explore our inner self and search for self expression and hopefully fulfillment.

Thanks for the beautiful painting, Deanna! I enjoy it both for the emotion and sometimes for the reading. It’s like tree rings informing of its timeline. Acrylic blacks dry brush or rub back. Wet-on-wet blending. So much skill on display! I love it. I keep discovering miniature worlds in its textures, like the skeletal ribs at the bottom. A visual armature that keeps the lower half from collapsing into pure darkness. Is that writing? Should I decode it? And the turquoise speckled peppery dots, wrist flick adornments. Narrative weight given to cosmic debris. A memory revisited through its layers. They’re a bruise I keep pressing on, over and over—cool and blue; perpetually tender. Never painful though.
