Adriana Tobón est une artiste peintre née en Colombie. Sociologue et philosophe de formation, elle rencontre la peinture par hasard à Carthagène des Indes où elle fait connaissance de l’artiste Hortensia Fuentes « Horchy ». Elle commence à fréquenter son atelier en 1998, dès lors elle n’a jamais arrêté de travailler.
Sa peinture est une vision intimiste et naïve, de la sinuosité représentée par la figure féminine. La recherche des formes et des couleurs est associée à la femme et à la nature, transformées parfois en paysage ou en objet. Le corps devient forme allongée, plate, vide : des êtres issus de son imagination, convertis en objets décoratifs d’une inquiétante étrangeté.
Les références à Giacometti, à Picasso et à Matisse sont inéluctables, leurs travaux ont inspiré la plupart de sa quête esthétique.
