Aladin Abdel Naby ist Fotograf und schloss sein Studium 1980 an der American University in Kairo mit einem BA in Massenkommunikation ab. Bereits 1964 begann er mit der Fotografie als Hobby. Er begann als Musiker mit der Fotografie als Hobby. Von 81 bis 85 arbeitete er als Werbefotograf; als er versehentlich für die Nachrichtenagentur Reuters über die Squash-Weltmeisterschaft in Ägypten berichtete. Er meldete sich im Juni 1986 als Mitarbeiter bei Reuters an und blieb dort bis März 2006. Während dieser Zeit berichtete er über die meisten wichtigen Ereignisse in Ägypten, ganz Nordafrika, half bei der Berichterstattung in Europa, Zentralafrika, Somalia, Tschad, Sudan, Jordanien, Syrien, Jemen, Katar, Emirate, Irak (beide Kriege 91 & 2003 und dazwischen) und Iran.
Nachdem er ein aufregendes und etwas gefährliches Leben geführt hatte, trat er im März 2006 von seinem Auftrag bei Reuters als Senior Photographer-Egypt zurück. Jetzt unterrichtet er Fotografie in verschiedenen Kunstzentren und lehrt Fotojournalismus an der American University in Kairo.
Seine Arbeit, die sich insbesondere mit den Themen Landschaft und Stadtbild befasst, zeichnet sich durch eine neue und visionäre Beleuchtung aus. Seine Arbeiten sind in vielen Privatsammlungen vertreten.
