Aladin Abdel Naby is a photographer graduated in 1980 from the American University in Cairo with a BA in Mass Communication. He picked up photography as a hobby as early as 1964. He started off as a musician with photography as a hobby. He worked as a commercial photographer from 81 till 85; when he accidentally covered the Squash World Championship in Egypt for Reuters News Agency. He signed up with Reuters in June 86 as a staffer and stayed on till March 2006. During that time he covered most of the major events in Egypt, all North Africa, assisted in coverage’s in Europe, Central Africa, Somalia, Chad, Sudan, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, Qatar, Emirates, Iraq (both wars 91 & 2003 and in between) and Iran.
Having lived an exciting and somewhat dangerous life he resigned his commission with Reuters as Senior Photographer-Egypt Mar 2006. Now he teach photography in different art centers and teach photojournalism at the American University in Cairo.
Addressing particularly the themes of the landscape and cityscape, his work is distinguished by a new and visionary lighting. His work is present in many private collections.
