Vilgeny Melnikov ist ein zeitgenössischer russischer Bildhauer. Seit 10 Jahren sucht Melnikov nach seinem Stil im Bereich der Gestaltung experimenteller Objekte. Er experimentierte mit Methoden der Formgebung und Formarbeit im Raum, bis er seine Technik begründete – das Aufblasen von Metallobjekten (Hydroforming). Mit dieser Technik kann er die Form zu 85–90 % kontrollieren, und 10–15 % bilden sich von selbst, den natürlichen und mechanischen Gesetzen der Restverformung der Streckgrenze des Metalls. Darüber hinaus ermöglicht ihm diese Technologie, Kunstwerke in sehr großen Formaten und in einer endlosen Formenrichtung zu schaffen.
Vilgeny Melnikov wurde 1984 in Russland geboren, wo er die Private School of Arts V. Mironenko abschloss. Bald darauf gründete er die Kunstresidenz OfelyArt Home und eröffnete das experimentelle Bildhaueratelier OfelyArt in St. Petersburg.
