One of the three species of woodpecker found in the UK, the Greater Spotted Woodpecker. These beautiful birds spend most of their time on trees foraging for insects but are partial to a peanut or two from garden bird tables. I have painted this one with gouache paint, finishing with artist pencils in places, on white A4 300gsm paper.

I love to paint birds, wildlife, nature and still life. My mediums of choice are acrylic, gouache and colour pencil and my background is in graphic design. My lifelong love of art began in early childhood, when I spent many hours drawing and painting in an old caravan on the family farm. I loved watching my mother, also an artist, working with paint and pastels.
