The painting is done with a pallet knife and has thick impasto paint in the foreground with a smoother blended sky.
The blue light of morning soaks the valley floor as the distant cloud slowly lifts and unveils a brand new day.

I am a self taught artist working mainly in oil on board. I paint landscapes and seascapes with big rolling skies and open foreground. A recent body of work draws inspiration from the ever changing coast line, cliffs and coves along the North East coast.
Previous bodies of work include a number of paintings of some of the old industrial sites which used to be peppered around the North East. These are in a style I would call Industrial impressionism, many layers of paint applied impasto with a pallet knife.
Currently I am exploring a more abstract or semi abstract style, again these are a collection of landscapes and seascapes from imagination and inspired by a song called Small Hours by the late great John Martyn.
