Darja Schvetsova

I graduated Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, Saint Petersburg, Russia. I live and work in Saint Petersburg. My main theme is the city and people in it, buses, cars, trains, subways, gas stations. I am also inspired by vintage cars, workers and special equipment, submarines and helicopters, historical characters and events, military uniforms, body parts, wetlook and latex as a kinds of fetish, melancholy landscapes and interiors, understatement and psychologism, but without excessive drama, twilight as a borderline state of time and consciousness. My husband is a city bus driver and thanks to him, I can get into the bus depot, the bus repair shop and other specialized places and take pictures of workers, industrial interiors, panoramas - all this is one of the main sources of inspiration for me. Painting for me is not only a self-manifestation and a way of earning money, but also a therapy that allows me to consistently close certain gestalts, thereby bringing the deepest satisfaction. Favorite artists - Hopper, Neo Rauch, art direction New Objectivity, as well as art-deco style in clothing and architecture.
