As an artist, Daniel Perry has freelanced in many areas of the visual arts over the last decade or so. Studying first at Central / St. Martins followed by two years at the Royal College of Art he combined illustration with painting, under Proffessor Dan Fern, before leaving the sanctity of England in '91, for Scandinavia; an initial three day adventure which was to last for about eight years.
Combining interests in both Fine and Commercial Art, Perry has worked in many visual disciplines. Whilst at the Royal College for instance he spent time in Berlin in '89 working on the Wall. An avid interest in the use of graffiti then developed which lead to time spent in Brooklyn, New York, before his return to London. This interest has continued to the present day and influences can be seen in several of the examples shown on this website, as well as an overview of his last studio in Sweden, which was raided as a former "moonshine" distillery before he took up occupancy.
As well as exibiting and selling work through the gallery system, Perry has worked on many commercial projects. From smatterings of Graphic and Illustration work, large scale mural work (see "Stockholm Beer Festival") through to working in theatre, designing and building sets to signwriting in the pub and restaurant trade, he has moved seemlessly through the disciplines. By his own admittance he once even got asked to move on from St.Paul's Cathederal by one of the vicars because he was doing a pavement drawing of a Russian icon.
Work shown on this website has mainly been produced using Photoshop and Illustrator, programs first used in '99 whilst working for Tillberg Design, the international cruise ship interior design company based in Sweden. Work produced for them ranged from graphic identity work including design for sand blasted signage to plaster wall relief designs for the QE II. (shown)
Recent clients whose work is shown here include The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Folkuniversitetet Forlag, Lund and The Ministry for Educational Development, all based in Sweden as well as cd work for musicians Patria Jacobs in Los Angeles and Marbledust here in the UK.
