Daniel Loagar
Daniel Loagar is a Romanian postdigital artist with a deep passion for overlooked and forgotten objects, technologies, and stories. Through his assemblages and installations, which utilize found objects and reclaimed materials, he seeks to recontextualize the past and offer new perspectives on technology, science, and art. Drawing inspiration from avant-garde movements like Dadaism and Brutalism, Loagar experiments with a variety of artistic mediums, including photography and graphic transfer onto wood, employing artisanal techniques.
In his artistic practice, he explores the relationship between the old and the new, subtly manipulating perception to create works that function like puzzles with multiple possible solutions. One of his notable series, "Possible Objects," features pieces that are akin to books in a library, using the same alphabet and letters but telling entirely different stories.
Throughout his career, Loagar has maintained a continuous dialogue between applied arts, scientific practices, and societal perceptions, challenging conventional norms and provoking critical thought. His works act as catalysts for emotion, creating interactive and experiential spaces that highlight our collective responsibility in shaping ethical narratives in media, art, and technology. Furthermore, while each of his individual pieces—whether an assemblage, installation, or object collage—tells its own story, combining them in a Dadaist manner generates a larger narrative, telling a completely different tale.
