Daniel Derderian, a contemporary French artist of Armenian descent, has forged a multifaceted career that spans the realms of classical dance, performance art, and visual expression. Currently residing and working between Montreuil near Paris and Ghent in Belgium, Derderian's artistic journey is rooted in a deep exploration of human identity, transition, and the intricate interplay between dream and reality.

His venture into the realm of visual art commenced in 2008, marked by a fascination with collages crafted from x-rays and clinical images, offering a stark yet objective glimpse into the inner workings of the human body.

Derderian's artistic oeuvre is characterized by an urgent and impassioned pursuit of themes that traverse the spectrum of human experience. From the turmoil of adolescence to the quest for gender identity and the contemplation of mortality, his work delves into the complexities of existence with unflinching honesty and creativity. Through a process of deconstruction and reconstruction, he breathes life into hybrid creatures that embody the dualities and contradictions inherent in the human condition.

Drawing inspiration from the world of fashion yet subverting its norms and ideals, Derderian's creations emerge as poignant reflections of societal expectations and individual desires. Each artwork is framed with meticulous care, akin to a corset, encapsulating the tension between societal conformity and personal liberation.

With a tender yet incisive touch, Derderian freezes his subjects in moments of intimate introspection, exploring the sensuality that arises from the silence of their secrets. Through his art, he seeks to forge a simple yet profound connection with viewers, inviting them to partake in a singular cry of love that resonates across boundaries of language and culture.
