Damien BERGER was born in 1987 in Tours (37) to overflowing parents of modesty. From his
father, a self-taught construction worker, and his mother, a qualified seamstress, he
learned courage, honesty and endurance. And it was quite naturally that he
developed this pugnacity that drives his ardor in creations today.
It was from the age of 10, in Luzé, that he developed a powerful attraction for stone,
a real encounter with this limestone, this Indian sandstone, this granite (“La Flamme”)
that he forges, that he shapes today. From then on, it was obvious for him to energetically begin his stonemasonry training at the age of 14, as if magnetized by the material! From
2002 to 2004, he passed his Stonemasonry CAP and won a silver medal at the Best
Apprentices in France. Then in 2006, he obtained his Professional Certificate in Stone Trades. .The year 2017 saw his registration at the Maison des Artistes come to fruition as
"BERGER Damien Sculpture".
In June 2015, he won the 2nd prize for Sculpture at the Saint Loup sur Thouet competition
with "L'Envol". Still at the same place, in June 2016, he won the audience award with
"La Gourmandise". In April 2017, with "La Danse des Violons", he won the
Sculpture Category prize at the International Plastic Art Competition of the Ecole de la Loire in Blois. In Fléac,
in Charente, the Jury awarded him the 2nd prize with "Mémimélo" in June 2017. At the Château de la
Pichardière, in July 2017, "La Danse des Violons" earned him a prize: that of the Public...
As his phantom mentor the Sculptor Constantin BRANCUSI said "Simplicity
is not a goal in art, but one arrives at simplicity in spite of oneself by approaching the
real sense of things", from a drawing or not, he chisels the stone by going to the essential
for original, modern, fine and refined creations like a jewel surrounded by diamonds.
/>the passion that has driven him since a very young age does not fade with time, it
strengthens. This is the common thread that pushes him to constantly imagine, with "the eye of
the mind (Auguste RODIN)", ever more minimalist works.
He does not hide his objective, already strongly displayed, to be a full-time sculptor
and to be recognized by his peers. From its listing, it aims for an International reputation, that is to say that it does not lack audacity or elegance...
While seductively, it sets its course with passion. Lovingly intertwined, his
works leave a trace of his art on earth and his self-confidence grows a little more
with each creation. There emerges from this Man a harmony that is growing
