Upon completing, with honors, university studies in Marketing, she already possessed a basis for art, having studied fashion design at the renowned Carlota Alfaro Institute. The artist is currently in her second year of studies at the School of Fine Arts in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Trips to Mexico and Europe awoke her interest in drawing. However, it was during the summer of 2003, when she was undergoing an intensive drawing and painting course at the prestigious Parsons New School, in New York, that dafne WM fell profoundly in love with painting and decided to give it room in her life.
Initiated her artistic participation with the collective “Boricua Presence”(the largest representation of Puerto Rican art outside the Island) in Miami, USA, 2005. Her piece “Tedium” granted her an invitation to the “Latin American Art VIII” where an independent panel of judges gave her an Honorable Mention. Participant by invitation in the Book Fair of Frankfurt, Germany (Arts Pavillion), 2005 and in the Lineart, International Art Fair in Ghent, Belgium, 2005. Group exhibition, R&G bank, PR, 2005. On Spring 2006 dafne WM participated on a student exchange program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago(SAIC).
"Dafne Walker’s work reminds me of the German expressionists that contributed so much to universal contemporary art. An artist in the height of her youth, Dafne takes on a serious artistic commitment, especially with herself, which extols the quality of her work even more. Dafne has a wonderful future ahead because she pours her soul and technical knowledge into work whose seriousness surpasses most of the painters her age. Puerto Rican and Latin American art in general should feel proud to be represented by an artist of such a high level. With regard to the Museum of the Americas that I direct, Dafne has been invited to participate in exhibits in Spain, Denmark, Belgium and Austria. During her current participation in the collective exhibit Latin American Art at Broward Community College in Pembroke Pines, Florida, Dafne has just received a Mention of Honor for her great work. The collective exhibit opens on September 1. As a professional of the Arts with more than 40 years of experience, I believe that Dafne Walker merits the title of ‘Artist’ in every sense of the word,” expressed Dr. Raúl Oyuela, Director, Museum of the Americas.

Group Exhibit at the R-G Financial, Puerto Rico
I had a recent group exhibit at the R-G Financial last year 2005. This is one of my more memorable experiences as it was my first exhibit in Puerto Rico. The public in general, collectors and galery owners enjoyed a lot this show and congratulated me for my works. Here I am speaking on the microphone. The gentleman on my left is Mr. Prats, the President of R-G Financial.
