Daan Corstjens, born in 1959 in Amsterdam, is a contemporary Dutch artist based in Zeist. A late bloomer in the field of painting, Daan grew up in an artist's family, and it became evident that creativity runs in her veins. She creates both abstract works using acrylic paint and mixed media, as well as figurative portrait paintings in oil on linen.
As a versatile artist, Daan embraces various materials and techniques in her practice. She has honed her skills through holistic art training at 't Pad and by participating in master classes, workshops, and lessons with renowned artists such as Erica Nussbaum, Sam Drukker, Rogier Willems, and Esther van Tilburg. Since 2021, Daan has painted with great joy at De Toets, the drawing and painting association in Zeist.
Daan’s style is characterized by a loose and free approach to painting. Curious and inquisitive by nature, she continuously explores new ways to renew and expand her artistic style. In addition to her original work, Daan enjoys the challenge of copying famous masterpieces, from Picasso and de Kooning to Frans Hals and Rembrandt, often doing so on commission. Her work reflects both her passion for artistic discovery and her deep connection to the history of painting.
