Francisco Crespo Artist Statement
Through mixed techniques that do not rely on pre-established canons or specific styles, my work expresses my fascination with everything that surrounds me. Whether through textures, collage drawings, or shapes, I delve into the world of dancers, capturing their inner beauty, the subtlety of their movements, and the fragile strength of their technical sacrifices to achieve perfection and artistic excellence.
My work is a blend of delicate shapes and the gestural aggressiveness of a hurricane, combined with the elegance of a showy rooster with bright colors. The harmonious lines of a torso between transparencies and the magic of shapes create a drawing that appears both firm and delicate. It is like a subtle melody transmitted by aggressive hips or tender breasts, touched lightly by hints of light.
Each piece is inspired by energy. I no longer believe in styles or theories, nor do I concern myself with whether the work is elaborate or not, figurative or abstract. What matters is the presence of the artwork before you—it either captivates you or it does not. It makes you return to it time and again, regardless of who created it. It is the essence of what is in front of you that absorbs you entirely.
