Corentin Cordier, photographe autodidacte, évolue vers le collage et la réappropriation d’images de cinéma, d’art et d’archives photographiques. Des poèmes bruts – d’écriture automatique – et divers poèmes sonores ponctuent sa pratique.
Ses dernières recherches prennent un tournant plastique qui s’affirme radicalement. On y voit le sujet de la figure humaine – transfiguré – s’affiner et se donner une consistance par un véritable laboratoire qui opère sur l’image des passages, des transferts ; progressivement écorchée, malmenée, brûlée, détruite, torturée, l’image originelle se charge vers une progressive matérialité. Photographie, imprimerie, gravure, dessin, passage à l’eau et au feu, déchirure, transfert, font partie des processus de destruction iconographique qui engendrent une consistance picturale.
Révélant alors des angles nouveaux – des angles d’approche – l’image héritière de sa destruction apparaît plus consistante et plus proche d’une réalité intérieure que l’image seule ne traduit pas. Par-delà l’image, soumise à la traversée de la matière – héritière des blessures et écorchures nécessaires à sa consistance – il s’agit de lui donner son incarnation au monde
