Ewen Gur is a contemporary French artist. The artist is fascinated by new figurative expressions. His line is delicate and effective, a mix of figuration and abstract components, as seen in comic books. His paintings are always amusing, and the message is clear: don't take yourself too seriously, breathe, enjoy life, and be rock'n'roll. He shows the destructive foolishness of busy people addicted to fast food and smartphones, and he describes the drifts and aberrations of materialism in a hilarious way.

Gur's art is dominated by black outlines; it's very detailed and always on the lookout for the right groove, but it appears deceptively simple. Another characteristic of his work is the use of bright colors to give it a "rock'n'roll'' feel and to remind him of the energy conveyed by the music he enjoys listening to. His work is like a typical Berlin party in that it always combines multiple artistic mediums: it's a painting with its own music score and dancing rhythm. Music is an important element of his creative process; it provides him with ideas and energy, and he enjoys reproducing its inner life and rhythms on canvas - so it's no surprise that many of his paintings are named after songs.

Ewen Gur was born in 1984, in France. He lives and works in Germany.
