Artist Coco Sicart was inspired by this exceptional event that represents the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to create this oil on canvas entitled: "Let's light up the world under the sign of the Hexagon with the flame of our gold seekers". Since December 13, 2017, in Lima, Peru, where the International Olympic Committee gave the go-ahead for Paris for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, what a journey we have made.... Hosting the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games will contribute to the revival of the economy and Paris 2024 aims for excellence, innovation and social and environmental commitments and will ultimately be a source of growth. This project, thanks to the strength of all these sports and games, will prove to the whole world that France is up to this very ambitious event in terms of spectacle. Through all these extraordinary challenges, France has established itself as an innovator in the field of sporting events and aims to be inspiring in order to create dreams and set an example for younger generations. In 2019, Tony Estanguet took over as president of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games organizing committee (Tony Estanguet is an athlete and sports leader whose career from 2000 to 2012 was crowned with success in his specialty of Canoeing, he was Olympic champion in 2000, in 2004, in 2012 won 3 gold medals and was triple world champion in 2006, 2009, 2010). The artist Coco Sicart represented the Bélem, this legendary ship which was the Olympic torch relay this year 2024, this 3 Mast with 22 sails, 58 meters long and 8m80 wide has a maximum speed of 9.2 knots or 17km/h. The Bélem was built in Brittany in 1896 as the year of the creation of the Olympic Games and in 1984 was officially classified as a National Monument while being a training ship chaining many prestigious nautical parades such as the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. This year 2024, the Bélem is the first torchbearer for this immense collective adventure which will continue to Paris on July 26, 2024 where the 33rd Olympic Games will start from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In total, 11,000 Flamebearers will have taken turns for this Olympic flame from Athens, and 2,000 units of Olympic flame designed by the French designer Mathieu Lehanneur were produced for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The 35-ton Olympic rings, 22 meters wide and 13 meters high, were placed at 96 meters high on the front of the Eiffel Tower to proudly welcome these Olympic Games on July 26. We can only admire the commitment, the discipline necessary to overcome the handicaps of all these athletes with steely morale to participate in these Paralympic Games in order to win medals. These Paralympic Games will take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024. Indeed, their life paths command respect because their values are concentrated in sport and performance. Since July 1900, the date of the 2nd Olympic Games in Paris, the French teams have continued to distinguish themselves and shine throughout the world and as Pierre de Coubertin said: "through sport, humanity rediscovers the elements of rigor, sacrifice, and will that form our moral hygiene and that nothing can replace." Then from July 6 to July 27, 1924, Pierre de Coubertin closed the Paris Olympic Games and France won 8 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 8 bronze medals. As Pierre de Coubertin said: "Faster, stronger, higher!" It can also be noted that in June 1913, he designed the 5 colored rings on a white background that represent the 5 continents in a single design and still exist today. And on September 12, 1920, the Olympic flag was raised in Greece. Thanks to sport, a fervent call for the rallying of all the peoples of the world rings and resounds in each of us to reconnect us with our national pride. Sport is indeed a fundamental element in repealing all borders in order to unite all peoples and to become aware of the immense power of our respective energies. Since the death of Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1937, the Olympic Games have grown in size and allowed thousands of athletes to shine on the international stage with their high sporting performances. We will never forget the disqualification of Canadian athlete Ben Johnson for doping at the 21st Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea in September 1988, which is how Carl Lewis won the Olympic title the same year.... As it is said in the Bible 2 Timothy 2:5: "And the athlete is not crowned, except he fight according to the rules".... For centuries, the exploits of men have marked our imaginations with their bravery, their audacity and are engraved in our collective memory. Their exploits are always free because through these exploits, men always seek to reach their own limits to become the first in terms of their physical performances. The world has opened up to athletes because human beings seek to conquer themselves by traveling to the center of themselves. Sport, which was an elitist activity, has become a means of social promotion. Practicing a sport is a real and very popular leisure activity, and the amateurism proposed as an ideal by Pierre de Coubertin has been replaced by professionalism and progress in training methods and techniques that have allowed athletes to achieve extraordinary performances. The Winbledon, the World Cup and the Olympic Games are now followed by billions of viewers who unleash passions. Telecommunications by fiber optics and satellites are operated in one click by thousands, and the density of information distributed or received is incredible on a global scale. The Olympic Games will be seen by more than 2 billion earthlings. It is obvious that the athlete who aims to win medals must follow rules, develop perseverance, endurance in the face of trials. Preparation for a high-level athlete must be both mental and physical, in order to shape his body according to the desired objective. The athlete must take care of his body to transform and maintain good health. The practice of sport helps to give the best of oneself, to fight to improve and to discover without fear and constantly push one's limits. Athletes are examples of virtues such as respect, joy, solidarity with others, humility, healthy competition. Sport is a privileged environment where people meet without distinction of race, sex, religion, ideology where these people experience the joy of competing to achieve a goal together, where success and defeat are shared and surpassed. Sport is a catalyst for experiences and community of human family. The commitment and dedication of athletes allows them to give the best of themselves. As it says in the bible 1Corinthians9:24: "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run so as to win." Or in Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" or in 1 John 5:4: "This is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith." We often have the feeling in view of the dramatic news of our world that values are disappearing or that they are wavering, but when we observe the exploits of all these athletes in search of surpassing themselves, we are forced to believe that these True Values spring forth and shine like a flame deep within each human being and we can deduce that the acceleration of history and the world remains somewhat powerless on human nature.... Man has struggled for centuries to be fully himself in perfect harmony with his environment..... The Artist Coco Sicart wanted to paint at the heart of this work first of all Montmartre dominated by the Basilica of the Sacré Coeur, a magical place in the heart of Paris which welcomes thousands artists, then the Louvre Pyramid made of glass and metal, inaugurated on March 4, 1988 by President François Mitterand and designed by the Chinese-American architect Leoh Ming Peu; is also represented in this work the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris with its golden rooster rising to a height of 96 meters, which is the most emblematic monument of Paris and remains closed to the public since April 15, 2019, the date of the violent fire that occurred and caused serious damage. The reopening to the public of Notre Dame is scheduled for December 8, 2024 and will mark its rebirth. And finally, the Artist painted the Arc de Triomphe which is also one of the national monuments with strong historical connotations. Coco Sicart had fun painting 3 gargoyles of Notre Dame de Paris, busy observing the excitement of the Olympic Games and its champion athletes, and for one of them, going into action so that the Olympic flame shines above the capital in the cauldron of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. We can also specify that the very beautiful Arielle Dombasle (singer and actress) will sing at the Paris City Hall her new title "Olympics" inspired by Beethoven's 7th symphony for the arrival of the Flame on July 14, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. where she will be surrounded by athletes and where she will sing her bright and joyful anthem to proudly welcome the Olympic flame. We all hope that Celine Dion will be there to honor the Olympic Games with her presence, and for the greatest pleasure of all these millions of fans.....Aya Nakamura will certainly be there for the opening ceremony on July 26 on the Seine. Aya Nakamura is the most listened to French-speaking singer in the world. Marc Cerrone (musician and composer) will certainly be there too, with his global hit from 1977: Supernature. Other very famous French artists will be there to ignite this opening of the 2024 Olympic Games on the Seine......
Publication of the work on July 6, 2024.
