The Artist Coco was inspired by our sad and very heavy reality to create this oil on canvas entitled "Refuge to touch the stars in the hollow of the wave". To illustrate this work, several emblematic sites are reproduced here such as "the great Prismatic Spring" located in Yellowstone Park in the USA, with highly supernatural and spectacular colors which make it an unusual landscape while not forgetting that it is a crater of hell mainly composed of sulfur and iron oxide, it is a large pool of water heated to more than 70 degrees. The artist chose this crater of hell to symbolize this invisible enemy called Covid 19/20/21. The artist also reproduced the Wave based in Arizona in the USA which is an unusual sandstone rock formation. Its spectacular relief has been shaped by winds and rains, over millions of years. These natural sandstone sculptures are tinted red-orange due to their iron oxide, calcium and other mineral content. To maintain the natural integrity of the region and to protect this exceptional site, only 20 people per day are allowed to enter the wave, half of which are entered by a lottery draw on the internet 4 months in advance!!! This hyper-preserved place is a true refuge of peace, beauty, magic conducive to meditation and contemplation. The artist also reproduced the sea of stars of Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives where this beach sparkles and lights up electric blue at nightfall, giving the illusion of reflecting the starry sky. The phytoplankton of the seas light up at night when the waves arrive on the beach during red tides; the tiny organisms glow like fireflies whenever they are stressed or agitated and the movement of the waves keeps them lit. Bioluminescence occurs only in warm coastal waters. This phenomenon gives rise to a heavenly landscape where one can contemplate a Sea of stars symbolizing Hope. The artist therefore added glass crystals to the oil on canvas as stars in order to give brilliance, light and also a little magic to his work to counter this dark and trying period that we are all going through. The artist also wanted to reproduce the Socotra Dragon Tree (The Dragon's Blood Tree) because this endemic tree is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The inhabitants of the island of Socotra located in the Indian Ocean consider the resin of the dragon's blood as a remedy for all ills (to lower fevers, heal wounds, treat digestive pains, etc.). The artist particularly wanted to bring a positive touch to his work by adding an iridescent cloud with rainbow-colored filaments to exorcise this diabolical period that each of us is experiencing head-on, and to enter into communion with this young woman who prays for the entire planet so that this scourge stops while touching the stars in this refuge in the hollow of the wave... Since March 2020, our lives have flowed to the rhythm of successive confinements and curfews as well as under the constraint of severe restrictions on our freedoms.... Our freedoms are diminishing and at the same time pushing each of us to reinvent ourselves, to fan this burning fire of creativity that boils and rumbles in each of us like a volcano that is awakening... The whole world lives under a bell jar and on a wire, revealing from one end of the planet to the other, ghost and silent towns where only the fauna and flora reign supreme as if to better regain their rights and their revenge on the man who so mistreated his environment without a second thought. It is the end of March 2021, and the pandemic, despite all the efforts of science, laboratories, and the massive deployment of vaccinations, is still raging across the world. All countries are navigating by sight in the hope of a normal resumption of activities, and are multiplying their recovery plans and aid to companies to best escort the economic fabric hard hit by this health crisis. For the past year, we have witnessed an acceleration in the appropriation of digital tools and therefore a rapid transition to e-commerce to continue to exist commercially speaking. Digital, fortunately, has been one of the major keys for many not to fall into oblivion... The world of culture, tourism, sport, and the hotel and restaurant industry, initially considered non-essential, are kept on life support and in a suspended time authorized by financial aid and by the resilience of entrepreneurs who have been incredibly capable of reinventing themselves, adapting, and bouncing back in the depths of these successive and incessant waves since March 2020... Every day, each of us scans the news for the hope of a stable health situation that would allow us to resume the path of a normal life, in vain... In conclusion, we could say that our ecological anxiety has been compounded by an epidemiological anxiety that plunges us into the heart of a tragic era where the sole and only person responsible for all these current catastrophes is man himself.... Lacking heart, man has put the entire planet on the floor... It is certain that this period of very anxiety-provoking vulnerability constantly fueled by uncertainty, by psychosocial events (unemployment, lack of money, precariousness) will forever mark our minds in indelible ink and whose social consequences will spread over months or years. This extremely violent health tsunami is changing the face of the world and causing serious social aftershocks on our planet where each of us will be forced to completely reinvent ourselves, to redesign our lives before taking our bow.... Publication of the work on March 29, 2021.
