It is made with a material of my composition placed on a wire structure, in which I integrate different elements: fabric, fillasse, wood, iron...
It represents an animal skull whose face is transformed into a gas mask. A metaphor for the probable future consequences of climate change, symbolized by this metamorphosis.
It is fixed on an assembly of vertical elements in wood and iron, covered with fabrics impregnated with a mixture of glue, earth, pigments and fabrics, the whole suggests a totem that has just been unearthed.
Vanity? Animal skull erected as a totem. This sculpture is part of the "Vestige du Futur Prior" series. Vestiges of a vanished or future civilization? I leave the question open.

Claude Duvauchelle is a contemporary French artist. For the past two decades, he has been fascinated by the human body. It is an endless source of inspiration for him, allowing him to express the emotions, anxieties, and hopes of modern man. He attempts to depict the problems and alienation caused by modern civilization's violence. Duvauchelle represents a humanity turned to its original bestiality, slave to its most destructive inclinations, constantly changing the techniques and content to avoid redundancy.
Claude Duvauchelle was born in 1953, in France. His works were shown in solo and group exhibitions all over France.
