Cindy Wolsfeld
Cindy Wolsfeld is a contemporary American artist born in 1953 near Chicago, Illinois, who grew up on a farm before pursuing her passion for art. She earned both a Master of Art and an MFA from Northern Illinois University in 1977. In 1978, driven by a desire to immerse herself in the art world, Cindy moved to New York City, where she explored diverse mediums, creating performance art, kinetic sculptures, paintings, and serigraphs, often inspired by the iconic cityscapes of New York.
In 1993, Cindy moved to the Paris region, where she spent more than two decades painting and exhibiting a range of works, from classical Parisian cityscapes to socially resonant avant-garde pieces. In 2016, her artistic journey took a challenging turn when she lost her entire art collection due to domestic violence, ultimately leading to a new chapter on the French Riviera in 2019, where she resumed her cityscape painting.
In 2024, Cindy returned to her roots in socially engaging avant-garde art with "Feminine Arsenal," a series examining contemporary lingerie as a form of "soft armor." Through intricate straps, leather, lace, and silk, she explores themes of strength and seduction, crafting structures that empower the wearer. This series reflects the enduring narrative of feminine allure as both a tool for survival and a subtle counter to brute force.
