Christian Guillot, born in 1956 in Besançon in the French Alps, spent his childhood and youth in many different countries of equatorial Africa, the Gabon, the Congo, Cameroun, Nigeria... At twenty years of age he came back to Paris for his studies and then became a businessman running prêt-à-porter clothes and transport companies. After several years of success, he decided to cut ties with everything to spend ten years travelling and exploring the world.
On his return to France, he pursued his art, drawing inspiration from his voyages using, Chinese and Arab calligraphy in his painting, enriched by the vibrant and luminous colours drawn from nature throughout the globe.
His works are the result of a combination of pigments from the Lubéron region of the South of France, of acrylic and oil paints, a transparent effect using stained glass and porcelain paints all adorned with gold, silver and copper threads, and gold and silver leaf and shimmering colours created by iridescent pigments.
The artist now lives in the heart of the French Alps and whilst still working as an interior decorator, his works received much acclaim at regional exhibitions which led to propositions for exhibitions in England, Geneva, Atlanta and Monaco.
His painting is a constant search for équilibre and harmony to create works which are often described as musical and vibrant influenced by the precision, the sense of depth and perspective of Dali, the elegance of form, the accuracy and force of Mathieu, the simplicity of contours and the colours of De Stael, and the anatomical precision of Trémois.
