C'était l'une de ces soirées de fin d'été et j'étais allé me coucher, mais après de nombreux mouvements agités, le sommeil ne voulait tout simplement pas venir, alors j'ai décidé de me lever et d'aller me promener dans le petit bois derrière la maison. La lumière de la lune brillait suffisamment à travers les feuilles, ce qui m'a permis de suivre le chemin sinueux et rocailleux sous les buissons. Un bruissement et une surprise de la part d'un lapin ou d'un petit rongeur alors qu'il se précipitait dans l'obscurité en levant les yeux, j'ai discerné une forme fantomatique comme une vision de Casper, le gentil fantôme des bandes dessinées, qui observait silencieusement depuis les branches au-dessus de moi. Je n'aurais rien remarqué si ce n'était pendant une seconde qui passait lorsqu'il y a eu un léger mouvement de la tête suivant l'animal en fuite. Soudain, il est devenu difficile de donner à cette rencontre une voix graphique. J'ai donc passé les jours suivants à essayer de trouver une expression pour la vision nocturne et la surprise du moment. Finalement, le support choisi était un dessin numérique imprimé sur du papier d'art.

Richard Raveen Chester is a multifaceted artist. He developed a new form of printing using a digital technique and superimposing layers on heavy art paper. He specializes in contemporary simultaneous and continuous color printing. The artist reworks the print after the marouflage transfer onto heavy art paper to achieve the artistic effect.
His work is mainly inspired by his walks in the countryside and the sensations or feelings he experiences while doing them, and which he tries to share with the spectators of his works.
Richard Raveen Chester was born in 1954 in India. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication from Delhi University School of Art in 1976. He currently lives and works in Angers (France).
