Oak is a symbol of power and endurance, longevity and strength, nobility and glory.
In ancient culture, this tree was associated with fire and lightning. According to legend, the great god of heaven, the Thunderer Zeus, loved the oak above other trees and often descended on it in the form of lightning, leaving a split and charred trunk in memory of his visit. Such trees were surrounded by an aura of glory because they saw the hand of the great Thunderer in their destruction. The place where the lightning struck became sacred.
It is from such a charred oak that the work "On the Crest of a Wave" is made. It bears the imprint of the elements and is filled with their power.
