This artwork ended up being a self-portrait without it being the intention. The hair and eye colours almost match my own and I do have a lot of freckles but not as compact as in the artwork. I think I've overdone that part a bit (haha). I also have been thinking about getting blue and purple highlights in my hair and I was experimenting with the idea through my art. The leaves in the background represent my garden and I used my favourite shade of green for them. Personally, I find that this artwork has a calming and meditative effect on my state of being every time I look at it.
Firstly, I drew the design on cardboard and then I applied the clay (play dough) with my index finger and spread it out. I used a toothpick to carve out the lines in the clay which took me a few weeks. After all the carving was done as well as the finer details, I finished the artwork off with two layers of varnish which give it its shine.

I experiment with different techniques and mediums in my artworks, but I specialise in mosaics and I'm trained in creating metal jewellery. I also produce beaded jewellery, acrylic paintings, digital art prints, paint pouring works, and a few ceramic works. I've held a workshop about creating mosaics in South Africa in 2017 and I've been commissioned a few times to make mosaic artworks for clients.
