"Nothing can stand in the way of this mission, both derisory and sublime: to paint pictures" J. CLAIR

I was born in NANTES (44) ... In an elevator. A few days later, I was baptized in the chapel of GRAYAN-ET-L'HOPITAL in MEDOC (33). And a few days later, I went to live with my parents and my brother on the island of SEIN (29). Suffice to say that my life presented itself, from the very beginning, in a rather original way!
As far back as I can remember, I have always drawn and this without ever having taken a class; I probably inherited the gifts of my paternal grandmother, Denise ESPELLE (1906-1939) who won the 1st prize at the Beaux-Arts de Nantes in 1923 at the age of 17.
"Of course, you don't know your path" a Berber told me one day "but if you want to trace your path in painting, raise your head, look at the stars because they are the ones who will guide your steps, as they have guided us, the rest of us, through the desert since the dawn of time".
That day, my view of the sky, the world and my life changed. Since then, I have drawn my energy, enthusiasm, inspiration and faith from the stars to try to produce a joyful, colorful, spiritual cultural work, with a symbolic scope that is both strong and profound, in which volumes rub shoulders with the most unexpected forms.
Curious about everything, passionate about ancient civilizations and distant cultures, African, Oceanic and pre-Columbian art play a significant role in the influence of the themes addressed and in the way I treat them.
The exotic influence of my work can be explained by the years I spent under the Caribbean sun and by the many fascinating encounters that have punctuated the course of my life.
To this day, after so many years of painting, my style has naturally evolved. I am now trying to approach my subjects with a certain originality... This is probably a resurgence of a birthmark!
I hope you, dear art lovers, enjoy immersing yourselves in my colorful world and thank you for your visit.
