Inspirée par le travail innovant de Gérard Richter, un de mes mentors artistiques, cette œuvre est une ode à la contemplation joyeuse, une fusion de passion et de tranquillité. Les tons rouges dominants, vibrants et puissants, créent une surface dynamique, sous laquelle des traces de jaune, de bleu clair, d'orange et de bleu foncé ajoutent une profondeur et une complexité visuelles, évoquant une symphonie de couleurs en parfaite harmonie.

Catherine Maddens is a contemporary French abstract painter based in Paris.
She is dedicated to abstract painting as a space of consciousness, presence, and transformation. Her practice aims to make colour resonate with the depth of human experience, creating works that invite introspection and a sensory connection with the viewer.
Her approach is built on a free dialogue between intuition, energy, and structure. She employs mixed media techniques — acrylics, gouache, oil sticks, pastels, aerosols — combined with repurposed tools to generate vibrant, living textures. Through layered surfaces and material experimentation, she explores perception, memory, and altered states of consciousness.
Her abstract paintings, at once gestural, colourful, and meditative, unfold as mental landscapes open to interpretation. By granting colour its own expressive autonomy, she develops a unique visual language — one that bridges sensitivity and intensity, materiality and the unseen, in search of the supernatural.
Her works are part of private collections in France and internationally.
